On Saturday I competed in V. Baškirov's II memorial and Tartu City Championships.
This was my first tryout before World Championships. My results were 163kg in snatch and 180kg in clean and jerk.
In snatch I started with easy 155kg. I talked to my trainer to put on 165kg, but the leap was to big and we decided to take on my PB 163kg and then move to 165kg. 163kg was much heavier in the second pull phase than 155kg, but I managed to hold my back straight and over the bar and catching phase was accurate and solid. When I took on 165kg I felt that i couldn't hold my back over the bar and that technical mistake cost me my last attempt. I'm satisfied with my snatch result even though my goal wast to get 165 on the board. I was very close and will get it next time.
Clean and jerk didn't go so well as snatch. I only managed to get first attempt with 180kg but failed two attempts on 190kg. Second attempt on 190 I cleaned the weight, but didn't jerk it. Clean was hard and was little bit in front so it took a lot of energy to stand up and I didn't have anymore power to jerk it.
To sum up, I am happy with my result, because it was made while being ill. Unfortunately I caught cold few days before competition and illness got to peak of course on competition morning. Although I thought I will not compete, I still decided to look how the warm up goes. In snatch it went as planned, but clean and jerk was horror.
I hope I get well soon and realize my total as soon as possible :)
The Championships has been held already for 3 years and every year it gets better. Big thanks to organizing committee especially championships director Igor Baškirov. I hope the tradition stays .
I would like to thank my sponsors, supporters, fans, friends and family.
