It's my first podium in Belgian 1.15 races. I lost the first place with centimeter, but I'm still happy with my bittersweet second place. It is certainly the step forward and hopefully I can continue my progress! So I'm trying to keep the good work up and make the hard work count!

During the UCI BeNe Ladies Tour, I had a chance to ride individual time trial with Estonian champions' kit. Unluckily I rode it without my time trial bike, but it was still such a pleasure to represent Estonian colours during 10 km race.

Profimaailmas esimesi samme tegev Liisi Rist jõudis S.C.

Sedasi kaotas Marianne Vos (Rabobank Giant) oma liidrisärgi ning tuuri üldvõitjaks märgiti Claudia Häusler (Team TIBCO-To The Top), vahendab rattaprofid.ee.

Bio

I love cycling, kilometers are my meditation.

At first sport wasn't my passion. I discovered cycling quite late. I was 14-year old, when coach Ado Hein invited me to an Estonian local cycling team Kalevi Jalgrattakool. Before that I had done some badminton, triathlon, orienteering etc. At the age of 17, I had to decide which sport I wanted to do more seriously and I chose cycling. Mostly because all my best friends were there. Every year my results went better and better, so one day I wanted to become a full-time professional cyclist. I decided to make my dream come true. I have 15 gold medals from Estonian youth and junior championships and 14 gold medals from elite Estonian national championships. In 2013, when I was only 21-years old, I got my first professional contract with S.C. Michela Record Rox, thanks to Grete Treier's help. The team was based in Italy. That year for the first time in my life, I won Estonian national championships both in road race and time trial. I also finished my first Grand Tour for women - Giro Rosa and Estonian Cyclist Union awarded me with the Estonian Best Female Cyclist's title. In 2014 I signed again with my team and my second pro year was as successful as the previous. For 2015 I earned a ride in a higher level Team Inpa Bianchi. I represented Estonia in the first European Games in Baku and got 24th and 41st places. The second half of the season was very difficult for me due to illnesses.
This year I decided to restart my career in an amateur level Keukens Redant Cycling Team, which is located in Belgium. I had a really strong spring campaign and the highlight was my first international pro (UCI) race podium in Israel, where I came 3rd in a mountain top finish. After that I had a goal to collect points to qualify for Rio Olympic Games. Strong results kept coming in with top 10 and top 5 places in UCI races in Thailand and Finland. Ultimately I didn't reach to my goal, but I did my best and came very close to qualifying. This spring also saw me break into top 120 in UCI women's world ranking, making me by far the best cyclist I've ever been.
My next goals for 2016 are European Championships in September and World Championships in October.
