So this summer has been another fantastic race season! I was very excited with the results (and improvements), and can't wait to push hard through a winter of training for more competitive races, with both draft-legal and illegal races. The season ended on a high note with winning the Riding mountain triathlon (my first ever race 5 years ago), faster than I ever thought I would be able to go (with so much room for improvement still), and receiving a very generous prize from the north face for it. The awards ceremony for triathlon manitoba just wrapped up this past weekend, and I was thrilled to win the overall olympic series (grand prix series) for the second year in a row, as well as receive the Male AG athlete of the year award! So many good things have happened this past year with the support of my team, my coach, and of course my family and girlfriend, I thank all of you so much and can't wait for what is to come this upcoming year!

P.s. Im going to try and update this much more often lol

So happy to finally get back into the gym today, even for a super light set with virtually no sweat and lots of stretching, it felt good to move again :)

Been one Heck of a busy month with a lot of things, and the last week has been hard with some pretty wicked sickness... had to 100 percent lay off all training, but aiming to be back in the game by wednesday to thursday. Itching to get back in the training and, literally can't wait!

Had a great time at the Triathlon Manitoba Awards Banquet, so excited to have won the Olympic-series overall, and so thankful for the supportive parents who made it possible. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this would not have been possible without their ongoing support and guidance, thanks so much mom and dad! you're the greatest parents anyone could ask for! looking forward to the upcoming years of bigger and bigger races and having you guys at my back for all of them!

Bio

Hello, my name is Josh, I am 21 and am a triathlete from Winnipeg Manitoba. I have been involved in physical activities and training for about 5 years now, but have been involved in triathlon for just over 2 years (on a team). I raced my first two olympic distances races with no experience in 2014 and 2015 at riding mountain here in Manitoba, and have since joined the Windburn triathlon team in October of 2015. My time in riding mountain of 2015 was 2:33:55, but through a 2 years of training, battling injuries, split shift, etc. ran the same race this year in an overall winning time 2:04:11, as well as other olympic distances races in similar times (with one race clocking in at 1:58:07, the exact same time for 2 years). I have fallen in love with this sport and all the training/time that goes into it and feel I m just getting started. I have an even better dynamic this year, with no current academic load, much better work shifts, a lot more time to focus on the training with my coach (Dave Lichen). I am now spending 4-6 hours a day 5-6 days of the week doing various forms of training (biking, running, swimming, stretching, strength, etc.) as compared to last winters 2-3 hours a day, 4-5 days a week, as well as focusing much more on proper rest and recovery/nutrition. I am seeing improvements steadily and am excited to pressure more draft-legal racing for the upcoming 2018 season. Any support towards my cause would be beyond appreciated, please feel free to contact me if you are interested at all! :)
